Sun, May 8, 2005 - 8:28 PMWho's Mike?
Who couldn't love Artemisia californica? I just planted a few in my backyard. And Ceanothus with its lovely shades of purple. It goes exceptionally well with Cercis Occidentalis (Western Rebud). They bloom at the same time. :)

Re: plants
Sun, June 12, 2005 - 7:37 PMThe best plants are the ones that work best in the environment it's located. How's that for a noncommital answer?
Having said that, I'll go with Acer griseum, Crataegus phaenopyrum, and Cleveland Sage (don't know the botanical). -

I'm a total plant freak. I can't pick just one plant, but my favorite plants together (by themselves they are so-so except the grass, which is nice in large drifts) are:
Nassella (Stipa) tenuissima, Lavandula x intermedia 'Provence', and Hemerocallis 'Orange' (evergreen) mixed together. The textures and colors complement each other.
One of my favorite shade plants is Viburnum davidii. I really like Carex tumulicola too. and on and on I could go. -

Re: plants
Tue, February 20, 2007 - 7:13 AMEquisetum hyemale is native to California. As long as you keep it confined with root barriers it shouldn't be a problem.

Re: plants
Fri, April 13, 2007 - 5:52 PMMmmmm, plants of all sorts fascinate me! They are wonderous indeed.
My favorite right now is Limonium perezii, Sea Lavender. It does so well out here in the SF Bay Area.
But my all time favorite flower is the humble Nasturtium. I love finding it growing wild in Golden Gate Park. Makes everything smell so peppery.
